Project Description:
This Metro Joint Development opportunity is at the crossroads of the Exposition and Crenshaw Lines, adjacent to the under-construction District Square project, a regional shopping center. Located on both sides of Crenshaw Boulevard, this world-class project aims to enliven the intersection of Crenshaw and Exposition Blvd. At this site, a Metro-owned lot currently used as a construction yard for the Crenshaw/LAX Line was partnered with a Los Angeles County-owned site that currently houses a Probation Department building.
The two parcels are bordered on the northern edge by Exposition Boulevard and on the Southern edge by Rodeo Drive. This transit-oriented development is envisioned as a mixed-use and mixed-income affordable community of 401 units, including 81 affordable units. The ground floor will house 40,000 sq. ft. of commercial retail space and 2,500 sq. ft. of community service space, including amenities for the adjacent transit hub. The site includes 502 parking spaces and is further supported by an additional 34,000 sq. ft. of open community and recreation space.
Crenshaw Crossing will embrace a contemporary look, with exteriors of painted cement plaster. A new pedestrian promenade will feed into the pedestrian plaza adjacent to the Crenshaw/LAX Line entrance. Townhouse-style units would front Victoria Avenue to the west, while commercial spaces would line Crenshaw and Exposition Boulevards. These commercial spaces will house both retail and community needs, including coffee shops, restaurants, workspace, bike storage, and community meeting areas.
