Project Description:
This 'transitional' living space blends traditional materials with a modern architectural expression. Designed for family life and entertaining, the open concept living spaces flow seamlessly between indoor and outdoor. All steel doors and windows enrich the space with natural light and a timeless character. Our largest design challenge for this home was to design a modern home (to meet our client's taste) in harmony with the traditional neighborhood context. In collaboration with Bonesteel Trout Hall, interior designers, the interior living space is defined by rich materials and the unique ceiling design composed of dropped steel I-beams (painted white) with tongue-and-groove (natural wood) ceilings running continuously above. This was a great example of the project team's coordination as the beams had to be designed, engineered and executed. Ultimately, it was a design detail that defined the space and was expertly executed by Patterson Custom Homes. The interior furnishings and fixtures selected by BTH were a great compliment to the kitchen and dining room which helped our clients identify with the space.
