Project Description:
In our architectural gem the allure of Tulum, Mexico's jungle meets contemporary elegance. This exquisite concrete home nestles into the lush surroundings, offering all the amenities of a luxury resort while being conscious of our impact on the environment. As a commitment to preserving the natural beauty, this house was thoughtfully constructed to tread lightly on the landscape. It occupies only 5% of the property, safeguarding the existing mature trees and habitats.
Step into the ground floor oasis, where large expanses of glass open up to a refreshing pool and covered outdoor lounge. But that's just the beginning – the rooftop is a showstopper, with breathtaking jungle views, a fire pit, an expansive bar, and a dining area. The highlight is the stunning acrylic-sided pool that beckons you to indulge in unforgettable evenings under the stars. In the basement, a movie lounge awaits, offering a perfect cinematic escape. And for connoisseurs, the dedicated cigar and wine room promises moments of refined enjoyment and relaxation.
More than just a house, this property has everything you could want in a luxurious resort. From the tropical paradise that surrounds you to the meticulous attention to detail, every element has been designed to create a dreamy escape.
Framework for Design Excellence
The project being located in the middle of the jungle meant that Design for Integration was very important. Only 5% of the land is being constructed on, preserving the natural landscape and vegetation as much as possible. The structure is positioned in a way that allows for the preservation of large trees and other site conditions. This addresses the Design for Integration framework directly, but also is a Design for Ecosystems through being non-disruptive to native life.
Design for resources is addressed through the usage of locally sourced materials. This also aligns with the framework Design for Energy by reducing the carbon footprint of the project due to transportation of materials. Another aspect that fulfils this framework is the usage of solar panels on the project.
Design for Water is also important to the project through the use of rain water collection. The water collection system is seamlessly integrated into the building design. Water treatment was also important in the design of the project. The residence has its own waste water treatment facility installed.
Design for Wellbeing shapes the programming of the whole residence. The program encourages residents to take care of their health through the spa, sauna, and the swimming pool. The indoor outdoor connection also invites them outside during their daily routine to connect with nature and breathe the fresh air of the jungle more often.
