Project Description:
The relocation and renovation of an Orange County office space for a leading architectural and interior design firm were successfully completed in 2023. Specializing in education, science, technology, and healthcare sectors, the firm sought to optimize their workspace in response to evolving remote work trends and company policies, while enhancing employee satisfaction and productivity. The outcome is a revitalized workplace that integrates upgraded amenities, fosters collaboration, and embraces advanced technology.
The redesigned floorplan introduces distinct zones for open office areas, a pantry, lounge spaces, and enclosed meeting rooms, centered around a comprehensive material library that serves as a hub of creativity. Each zone maintains its identity yet seamlessly connects, distinguished by unique architectural soffits. The open layout promotes fluidity and teamwork, while strategically placed conference rooms, a dedicated mother’s room, and efficient storage solutions provide essential privacy and functionality.
Utilizing steel stud and open-concept construction within the existing decentralized core, the design maximizes efficiency while offering expansive views of Southern Orange County from multiple perspectives—North, East, and South. This architectural approach not only enhances spatial dynamics but also integrates natural surroundings into the workspace experience.
The aesthetic concept of the space harmonizes natural wood tones, floating ceilings, and open corners, blending the comfort of residential palettes with the practicality demanded by commercial office environments. This subdued yet sophisticated design ethos creates an inviting atmosphere that supports creativity and collaboration among team members.
Design for Well-being
The design for the Orange County office space aligns seamlessly with the "Design for Well-being—Framework for Design Excellence," prioritizing the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of building occupants and the broader community. By creating a dynamic and sustainable workspace, the design enhances employee productivity and satisfaction while fostering a collaborative environment that lends itself to creative discovery and innovation. Thoughtful integration of natural elements, efficient lighting systems, and ergonomic considerations contribute to a healthy and supportive workplace environment, reflecting our commitment to holistic well-being in architectural and interior design.
Our project also fits the “Design for Well-being” tenets through its location at FLIGHT at Tustin Legacy, a site centered around tenant happiness and health. Each building is designed to maximize natural light and views of the surrounding area, inherently creating a welcoming and well-lit atmosphere throughout the entire campus. FLIGHT also incorporates a chef-driven food hall, indoor and outdoor meeting facilities, fitness areas, and on-site conference facilities. The location was ultimately chosen for its outstanding onsite amenities and the facility’s dedication to fostering creativity, making it an ideal setting for innovative and inspiring workspaces.
