Project Description:
The Ocean Residence was designed specifically for the premier and highly visible location known as Ocean Boulevard, in Corona Del Mar, CA. With spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean, the Newport Harbor entrance, and the surfer haven known as 'The Wedge', the design utilizes an elevated front yard to open up the views from all of the main level living spaces. The main house sits very proud on the street, while the guest house compliments its design and welcoming visitors. The pool/ spa and cabana are a large feature, uniquely positioned at the front of the home tying the two structures together. Within the spaces, the great room, kitchen, and pool deck step up from the living area to create sightlines to the horizon. An interior courtyard adjacent to the great room establishes a private indoor/outdoor reprieve for the residents and works to connect the main residence to the adjacent guest/ pool house. The master suite is situated over the living space in both the main and guest house, overlooking the waves and sand of the beach and opening itself to the spectacular coastal sunsets. A large rooftop deck adds to the outstanding perspectives from the home with 180" views up and down the coastline.
Designing for Equitable Communities
The Ocean project was designed for a moderately dense locale. The walk-ability to other homes, restaurants, shopping, and transportation are all within 5-10 minutes for the homeowners. The design style fits within this neighbor fabric that has been developed for years, adding to this has created and maintained a community and social connection.
