Project Description:
Design For Integration: The design for the headquarters is a study of connections. Connection of the staff to each other and their clientele, connection to the brand and mission of the company and a connection to the environment and the community. The connections foster the client’s mission to breakdown technology barriers for start-up companies with a space that was informal, sustainable, collaborative and fosters engagement. Situated in a new and somewhat isolated business park, the project’s internal “event center” is opened for use by the public and business community as an outreach venue for events while drawing awareness to the client’s purpose.
Design For Equitable Communities: the client’s offers cost effective on-line services to start-up companies and entrepreneurs that traditionally would be too small to afford such services. The interior public and event spaces are purposely open and engage with the surrounding development allowing unrestricted interaction and socialization between clients creating a sense of community for an unserved demographic. This open attitude provides a sense of social equity and inclusion while broadening opportunities for collaboration and shared experiences.
Design For Ecosystems: Situated in an existing development, the client selected this site because it offers extensive and unrestricted connections to the surrounding open spaces and ecosystems with a design where indoor/outdoor connections are available to visitors and employees alike.
Design For Water: All fixtures utilized within the space are water efficient and low flow exceeding the baseline by 30% using reclaimed water for all flushing fixtures.
Design For Economy: The existing shell’s structure system, HVAC system and concrete slab are left exposed saving money and reduces finish materials for 80% of the buildout. The buildout saves 200 metric tons of embodied energy from 100% interior buildout.
Design For Energy: The project lighting system of 100% LED lighting beats the 2030 Commitment for interiors projects with an LPD of .51 wSF which exceeds the .25% reduction Commitment by 96%.
Design For Well Being: With robust connections to natural daylight and views, direct connections to bountiful exterior amenities and aggressive health and well-being operational strategies, Kajabi is committed to the wellbeing of its staff and visitors.
Design For Resources: The material and finish selection were based on a limited pallet of locally sourced environmental products. The aesthetic remained raw and unfinished whenever possible to limit applied paints, sealers, and treatments. While the aesthetic has a “techy” feel, the look remains warm and organic. Compared with new construction the project saves
Design For Change: The entire space is inherently designed to accommodate change and flexibility. Limited yet purposeful construction minimizes major structural changes to accommodate future adaptability.
Design for Discovery: Completed during the pandemic has already been a study in discovery. Even before occupancy, staff engagement and dialogue led to added design modifications that allowed a safe return to work. Post occupancy evaluations are also planned to engage and understand the successes as well as the failures of the design.
