Project Description:

Sited as an iconic statement along one of the city’s primary urban street frontages, the human spirit takes flight in this modernist sanctuary. As “home” has come to encompass the realms of work, play and rest, this five-story high-density haven, with its luxurious, light-filled spaces, rises to the occasion.

The design team was challenged with the creation of a sophisticated, urban landmark community as a catalyst for the revitalization of Beach Boulevard. The triangular edge of the site provides opportunity for elevated forms and angles used in midcentury design as well as the Bauhaus movement define the architecture and interiors, with vertical elements taking the foreground, lifting the structure skyward. Verticality and the spirit of ascent are celebrated throughout, in the repetition of framed vertical building masses, the inclusion of columns, fins and trim elements, the selection of windows and fenestration patterns, and the application of tile and siding. The wrapped parking garage is positioned towards the back of the site to provide a buffer and privacy zone to the existing adjacent residential.

Poised to be the largest aerial playground within Orange County, an audacious 17,500 SF sky deck crowns the complex, offering a carefree urban getaway without leaving home. The vibrant spaces are outfitted for al fresco entertaining, evening fireside cocktails, poolside movie nights, and anytime lounging and relaxation. Terraced staircases offer premium views of the pool and jumbo movie screen, as well as casual seating for intimate chats. Amenities are woven throughout, including indoor-outdoor double volume community spaces, bark park and green courtyard oases. In all of its functions, this project inspires and lifts up its residents and the surrounding community.
